Kalle Sauerland named 6th most influential figure in boxing

27th, December 2019

Chief Boxing Officer of the WBSS, Kalle Sauerland, is being hailed for a tournament that ‘stage magnificent fights and create real stars’ on Boxing News’ Top 50 power list.

The magazine writes in its motivation:

IF one single innovation has given us more great fights than any amount of big talk by promoters, it was the World Boxing Super Series, brainchild of Kalle Sauerland. Born into the sport as the son of Wilfried Sauerland, the sheer ambition of the WBSS is testament to his vision and dealmaking skills. The tournament seems so unlikely on modern-day boxing, where safety-first matchmaking and rival interests rule. There were problems along the way, but the WBSS continues to stage magnificent fights and create real stars.

“It’s a great honour to be among the Top 10 on such a prestigious list but it’s a credit not just to me but to a great team we have who work tirelessly to bring the show around the globe,” says Kalle Sauerland. “It’s been a sensational year for the WBSS culminating with two mind-blowing Ali Trophy finals. The WBSS is looking forward to staging more edge-of-your-seat match-ups and creating more stars in the quest for the greatest prize in boxing.”
