Aleksandr Usyk, Josh Taylor, and Naoya Inoue have retained their perfect records and status among the best boxers in the world after winning the coveted Muhammad Ali Trophy.

On Ring Magazine’s latest pound-for-pound list the trio makes it to the Top 5. Usyk is No. 2, Inoue 3rd, and Taylor 5th on the prestigious ranking of the very best pugilists across weight classes.

In 2021 Usyk’s performance to dethrone three-belt champ and former P4P-ranked Anthony Joshua confirmed his greatness, Inoue KO’d Michael Dasmarinas and Aran Dipaen, and Taylor became undisputed at 140lbs.

The two other winners of the Ali Trophy, Mairis Briedis, and Callum Smith,  both had a successful 2021 with a W each – Briedis is No. 1 at cruiserweight, while Callum Smith is 7th at light heavyweight.

It is worth noting that every winner so far of the Ali Trophy also took home the legendary Ring Magazine belt after claiming their respective edition of the World Boxing Super Series.

As Tom Gray, Ring Magazine’s Associate Editor said before the WBSS Cruiserweight Final between Mairis Briedis and Yuniel Dorticos in September ’20:

“The WBSS and Ring Magazine have a common goal; we strive to seek out the best fighter in each weight class.”

Ali Trophy winners have proven not only to be the best in their weight class but constantly a part of the pound-for-pound discussion.
